Cool the mixture to -200 degree Celsius. both gases turn their state to liquids. they are then separated using fractional distillation where as the temperature is increased, nitrogen is first collected because it has the lowest boiling point.after the temperature reaches around -185 degree Celsius, the oxygen which boils at -183 degree Celsius, starts to evaporate and thus is collected in a separate gas jar.
